The West 4th Street Basketball League offers at risk youth (females below the age of 15 and males below the age of 19) an opportunity to participate in a free, fun, and athletic program during the summer months. In the past participants have come from all five buroughs. The program is run at "The CAGE" an out door basketball court located at 6th Ave and West 4th Street. A portion of the moeny will be used to assist in purchasing personalized uniforms, GVYC t-shirts, back packs, trophies, as well as other miscellaneous costs (basketballs, nets, score cards, etc). Also, a portion of the funds will be used to stipend adolescent assistant coaches, time keepers, and score keepers. Lastly, a small portion will go to administrative costs, including but not limited to, printing flyers, brochures, buying postage, paper, copies, and so forth. These funds will be a huge assistance in making this program as successful as it has been for over a decade.
