Funds requested will provide staffing support for the Technology Service Corps program to engage, recruit, instruct, and place program participants/graduates. Last year's program budget was $66k, and the program enrolled 117 in '08 and aims to enroll over 105 in '09. The program recruits students citywide. The population served is 18-25 year old disconnected youth from the five boroughs of NYC-- in Council District 3 we do outreach to groups such as The Door. We provide them with an 18-week IT training course that covers computer fundamentals, network and server basics, and web development training.
