Request
I am looking for daily traffic count data for multiple locations within NYC. The available dataset by NYDOT is the "Traffic Volume Counts" which includes segment ID but not geolocations (lat and long). Do you have the ones with lat/long (or matching between segment ids and lat/long of the center of the segment)
We are working on an Air Quality project at Princeton University and we will use traffic data (among other features) to analyze, model, and predict the spatio-temporal changes of air quality within the city of New York.
Response
Thank you for your inquiry. The NYC Department of Transportation (NYC DOT) Traffic Volume Counts data is street block based and does not contain lat, long coordinates. The geographic data consists of street segment (city block) information rather than the location of the actual counter. The segmentID field is based on the LION data (linked below) from the NYC Department of City Planning (NYC DCP), mapping every street block and the bases for almost all City used geospatial data. Note: LION data is in geospatial shapefile format but possible to extract into CSV.
The segmentID in Traffic Volume Counts data can be joined with LION to identify the City block where the count was taken place. LION data also contains XFrom, YFrom, XTo, YTo fields containing coordinates that may be closest to your request. The data is in X,Y and not Lat, Long, a Geographic Information System (GIS) application is need to convert the coordinates or to visualize the data.
Datasets:

Geographic Information Systems (GIS) softwares to map X,Y coordinates:
1) QGIS- Free and Open Source
2) ArcGIS- ESRI software, license based
Thank you,
