The Visual art program at P.S. 138 helps students develop confidence, creativity and literacy througgh creative projects.The curriculum is align with the standards and benchmarks set forth by NYC DOE blueprint for Visual Art.PS 138, art program goal is to make art the starting point with art making.By connecting art to every subject in the school's curriculum, and by interconnecting a multidisciplinary art program, students not only benefit from the structure of each class, but also from their diversity.The art program is intergrating between every subject in other to give student a rich ,well varied, and all-emcompas art education. Throught the expolration of a variety media- drawings, collage, painting, and now theater, Ps 138 is helping students develop an understanding of the principal of art and the elements of design. Students are able to use academic art language to discuss artworks and always cite "visual evidence" to support inferences, claim, and arguments made about a work of art. Goal 1: To increase student's awareness of Visual arts. 1)Introcuce different artist, art element, principles of design, and art forms to students.Goal 2: To demonstrade and develop Arts methods that support students achievement. Goal 3:To educate students about art, as well as celebrate students's creativity.This year,PS 138 partner with The New Victory theater to enhance art instruction in the middle school. Our Visual art program strives to give all students a well rounded art experience, and encourage them to create a work of art.
