The Visual Arts and Music programs at Origins High School develops a young artist's technical abilities and personal vision through the study of a variety of traditional and contemporary media. Creative problem solving, critical thinking and a broad range of experiences build the foundation for deeper understanding, advanced learning, and innovation within the various media.
All students take Digital Literacy and Art Foundations during their freshman year. Students will learn how to use technology resources to aid them in organization, projects, formatting documents, and self expression. Programs include Google Suite (Docs, Slides), Prezi, GIF file animation, Weebly websites, Pixton comics, and GarageBand. In Art Foundations, students are exposed to a wide variety of techniques and skills which will be developed through a series of planned projects in 2-dimensional mediums such as collage, drawing, painting, graphic design, photography and animation.
Sophomores, juniors and seniors are able to choose from the following courses: Instrumental Music, Guitar, Drawing, Sculpture, Ceramics, both Darkroom and Digital Photography, Graphic Design, Animation and Mixed-Media Sculpture. In addition to these offerings, we will be adding on a theater elective in the coming year.
