The High School for Arts and Business has a highly developed Art program that has ten credit art sequences for both Fine Arts and Graphic Arts. These sequences culminate in a Chancellor's Endorsed Advanced Regents Diploma. We are also developing a Career and Technical Education Sequence for the arts program. The course offerings are: Studio Art, Foundational Drawing, 3-D Design, Computer Graphics, Digital Filmmaking, Digital Photography, Advanced Painting, Studio Arts, and Commercial Design. There are also college level and Advanced Placement courses in Art History ,Photography and Digital Photography (Articulated Agreement with Queensborough Community College). Our program offers internships from the Center for Arts Education, Queensboro Museum, Groundswell Inc., Oratorio Society , Metropolitan Museum of Art and Queens Museum. Students participate in Arts Workshops at Cooper Union, Fashion Institute of Technology, The International Photography Museum, The Arts Director Club, Arts Connection and Art Students League. Last year we had an exhibit at the Queenboro Museum. Most of our Art students have completed our ten credit sequence and have attained the Chancellors Endorsed Arts Diploma. The Music department offers a Beginning and Advanced Band, Beginning and Advanced Chorus as well as Music Theory. Our school has a full concert band set up featuring woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Students are performing and attaining NYSSMA certification. Our school also has a dance studio and several dance performances.
