This program is dedicated to fostering interest in the political and legal fields. It is open to a wide range of academic performance levels. Students will engage in a sequence of history courses in topics including political theory, ethics, civil, criminal, and constitutional law. They will also participate in activities such as Mock Trial, NYPD Explorers, and law and political field internship.

This program is designed for students who have an interest in pursuing a career in media, broadcasting, and journalism.

Biomedical Science students will study the concepts of human medicine, physiology, genetics, microbiology and public health. This program is in partnership with Project Lead the Way (PLTW).

Students study ballet, modern, and jazz techniques along with choreography. Students also have the opportunity to explore additional forms of dance by attending live performances and participating in school productions.

The Young Women's Leadership School of East Harlem opened in 1996 as the first in a national network of all-girls college prep schools. TYWLS nurtures the intellectual curiosity and creativity of young women by supporting the whole girl in order to maximize academic achievement, social and emotional well-being, and post-secondary success. Our support structures include daily advisory, after-school academic tutoring, and regular contact with parents. The Young Women's Leadership Network supports our school with a wide range of leadership programs. The CollegeBound Initiative (CBI) provides college access support with a full-time CBI college counselor on our staff who guides each of our students through the college application process.

All students engage in an academically rigorous college-prep course of study, with the opportunity to take upper level science and math courses.

Classes use collaborative engagement with intellectually rigorous and interesting content to prepare students to be successful on standardized exams.

You may audition on more than one instrument. Perform a prepared solo selection (memorized or with sheet music). Bring your own instrument(s) (except piano, tuba, double bass, harp, percussion and guitar amplifiers, which are provided by the school). Audition includes on-site music tasks (may include singing back melodic patterns, tapping back rhythmic patterns, play selected scales, or completing a sight reading, music theory, or improvisation task).

Perform a song without accompaniment. Audition includes on-site music tasks in which originality, pitch, one's ability to harmonize with other singers will be assessed. Check school website (www.tapconyc.org) for suggestions.

Participate in both a ballet class and a modern dance class. In addition to this common audition requirement, a prepared solo is necessary. Applicants must wear ballet shoes and fitted black dance attire.

Perform two contrasting monologues (one minute each). Perform an on-demand dramatic or movement activity (e.g. impromptu reading from provided script or improvisation). Wear attire that allows free movement.

Prepare a portfolio of 8-15 pieces of original work. Include examples of observational drawings. Complete up to three drawing assignments at the audition. Check school's website for examples (www.tapconyc.org). Examples may include the human figure and drawing from observation or imagination.

Since 1994, our graduates have gone on to succeed in city, state, and private colleges and pursue careers in business, media, social work, education, and technical fields. Through college classes, internships, and digital courses, we provide a broad range of learning opportunities and we leverage technology to maximize individualization, independence, and depth of learning. Our four-year Advisory curriculum focuses on the academic development, knowledge, as well as the critical thinking, research, and analytical skills necessary for college. At the Children's Aid Society Student Success Center, students work with a team of full-time counselors to explore college and career goals and complete college and scholarship applications.

The Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice (SLJ) offers a challenging academic program with an emphasis on law and justice. We offer a nationally recognized college and career readiness curriculum. Through integrated partnerships, supportive relationships, and rigorous coursework, students develop strong communication skills and an understanding of the role law plays in society. SLJ students participate in the democratic process through Student Council, Town Hall meetings, and Youth Court. Our school offers a small, academically-challenging high school experience to students who wish to enter the fields of medical science and health. Science courses are embedded into all curricular areas. At our school, the first three years of study are devoted to the completion of all requirements for graduation, while the last year is devoted to CUNY College Now coursework. Over the course of their high school experience, students become 'resident experts' in a topic of their choice and are required to compile a variety of reports, experiments, and artifacts culminating in a senior year presentation to their peers.

This program is a rigorous program of study for highly motivated students. The goal of the IB Program is to develop well-rounded students with character who respond to challenges with optimism and an open mind. At Energy Tech, students interested in engineering, science, math, and technology follow a unique pathway to college degrees and high-demand tech careers. This program exposes students to computer graphics, painting, digital photography, black and white photography, illustration, and graphic design. Students are prepared for internship opportunities and the skills needed for completing a college admissions portfolio. Students collaborate with professional artists, exhibit their work at museums and attend workshops at post-secondary institutions such as the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design.

This program is a comprehensive course of study where students are offered hands-on instruction in the process, skills, and language of Fashion Design from concept through production. Students collaborate with industry partners who help guide them. Classes in the program include Beginner & Advanced Fashion Illustration, Beginner & Advanced Garment Construction, Draping, Pattern Making, and Portfolio Development. A four-year rigorous curriculum prepares students for college and career. Students take acting, vocal, and musical theater dance classes with specific focus on tuning their physical instruments in preparation for full productions as upperclassmen. Students study musical theatre history, ensemble-building, improvisation, and acting through song. In addition, the senior year includes specialized units in college audition readiness, industry exposure, and theater as a business.

A four-year rigorous curriculum prepares students for college and career. Students take daily solo voice and ensemble classes, studying repertoire in English, Italian, French, and German. Students perform on the main stage all four years, including a fully staged opera in 12th grade. Students study piano, musicianship/theory, and phonetics. Come prepared to (1) sing a memorized song from a Broadway musical; AND (2) present a memorized one-minute monologue from a published play or musical. Applicants must bring the sheet music in the key in which they will sing, hole-punched and must sing with the provided accompanist. Applicants may also be asked to repeat vocal phrases in order to demonstrate rhythm, tonal memory and basic vocal technique and/or replicate a dance combination. Ability to take direction will be strongly considered.

Come prepared to sing from memory, in a medium tempo (A) Amazing Grace, Over the Rainbow, Silent Night, or The Star Spangled Banner; OR (B) a classical or musical theater selection. For the classical or musical theater selection applicants must bring the sheet music in the key in which they will sing. Applicants must sing with the provided accompanist. Applicants should be able to demonstrate both chest and head voice and will be asked to repeat vocal phrases in order to demonstrate rhythm, tonal memory and basic vocal technique. Ability to take direction will be strongly considered.

Come prepared to take class, learning ballet and modern dance combinations and performing them in small groups. Applicants will be evaluated on alignment, the ability to follow directions, musicality, strength, and stretch. Applicants are expected to wear dance clothes (leotards, footless tights and ballet shoes) and do NOT need to prepare a one minute dance.

Schuylerville Preparatory High School is a college-preparatory institution that serves scholars from grades 9-12. Our community supports scholars holistically, with specific attention to academics, ethics, and discipline. At SPHS, scholars receive individualized attention that enables them to explore their interests and develop goals while engaging in rigorous curricula across all disciplines. Our course offerings will include Advanced Placement (AP) courses in English, participation in campus-wide AP courses across all subject areas, electives in journalism, communication, environmental science and mathematics, and a partnership with Lehman College and College Now with Bronx Community College.

Our challenging and academically demanding program is designed around college preparedness and aligned to Common Core Learning Standards. High standards, rigor, and global themes are infused throughout subjects. Exceptionally high standards around student conduct, school tone, and academic citizenship are strictly maintained. Students are required to present comprehensive portfolios and engage in summer research projects. Teachers work to challenge students' thinking, build student ownership of learning, and prepare students for college. Students have opportunities to travel and foster cross-cultural learning. All students must undertake at least three years of world language, including Mandarin Chinese or Spanish, building global competence.

We prepare students for college, healthy adulthood, and lifelong learning. As a NYS Performance Standards Consortium school, students are exempt from taking Regents exams except the ELA for graduation. Instead, students present final Performance-Based Assessment Tasks (PBATs). Ninth and tenth grade students participate in roundtables where they present a final piece of work to staff, families, and visitors in small groups. Eleventh and twelfth grade students complete semester-long projects in a given content area. All students have an advisor and are offered elective classes to pursue their individual academic and career interests. We are a Restorative Justice school, offering support and structure, not punishment, for disciplinary matters.
