Contractor Guidelines for the Build It Back Repair Program

Information for contractors requesting a DOB inspection for Build it Back properties.

The Department of Buildings offers inspections for Build it Back properties. Contractors wishing to schedule inspections, should refer to the following procedures to set up appointments: <div><br /></div> <div><strong>Plumbing Inspections</strong></div> <div>To schedule a plumbing inspection, call (212) 393-2550 and provide your Build it Back registration number. You will be given a confirmation number. You must then email DOB at BIBinspections@buildings.nyc.gov.  In your email, include 'Plumbing Inspection Request' in the subject line. In the body of the email, provide: <br /> <ul> <li>All contact information (contact person, company name, phone number, and email address)</li> <li>Location information (borough, job address, BIN)</li> <li>Job number</li> <li>Build it Back registration number</li> <li>DOB confirmation number</li> </ul> </div> <div><strong>Construction and Electrical Inspections</strong><br />To schedule an appointment, email BIBinspections@buildings.nyc.gov. Pedicab Timer Inspection

Request for inspection of timer used by pedicab driver to determine fare.

<P>By law, pedicab drivers must use a timer to determine the price per minute per ride.</P> <P>Timers must comply with the current version of Handbook 44 and Special Publication 960-12 of the National Institute of Standards and Technology and be inspected and sealed by the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA). </P> <P>You can schedule inspection of a timer that is not sealed yet by phone or by email: <A href='mailto:RequestInspection@dca.nyc.gov'>RequestInspection@dca.nyc.gov</A>. Administration for Children's Services Case Status or Complaint

Check the status of an open child welfare case with the Administration for Children's Services (ACS).

Through the Administration for Children's Services' (ACS) Office of Advocacy, the City provides information about child welfare procedures, visitation, custody issues, non-payment of foster care payments, and other information about the work of ACS or its contracted agencies. Clients can make an inquiry with the ACS Office of Advocacy to have a complaint addressed.<br /><br />Parents and grandparents can get information about an active child welfare case. When children are removed from their home because of an ACS investigation, parents can get details about the case.<br /><br />Staff at City agencies, foster care agencies, preventive service providers, and schools who are concerned about the progress of a child protective investigation that they reported to the State Central Register can also get information about an active ACS case.

Scale Inspection

Schedule an inspection of scale used by retail stores or airports.

<p>The Department of Consumer Affairs inspects scales and measuring devices used by retail stores, including grocery stores and bodegas, and airports to make sure they are accurate. All markets must have a scale in their prepackaged food section.</p><ol><li>Businesses can request scale inspections in one of three ways: Online via nyc.gov/BusinessToolbox.</li><li>Email <a href='mailto:scaleinspection@dca.nyc.gov'>scaleinspection@dca.nyc.gov</a>&#160;</li><li>Fax (718) 349-2576</li></ol> <p>You will get a notification of your inspection date within 15 days of the City receiving your scale inspection request (five days if you have a previously condemned scale). Lost, Found, or Stray Animal

<p>Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC) accepts reports of lost, found, stray, or abandoned animals.</p><p>If you have lost your pet or found someone else's pet, you can visit ACC's lost/found pet database to report your lost pet or see if someone has reported their pet lost. You can also visit the Brooklyn, Manhattan, or Staten Island ACC Care Centers to see if your pet is being held there. If you are going to a Care Center to claim your pet, bring proof of ownership such as a photo of your pet or a veterinarian record. There are fees involved in reclaiming a lost pet from the Care Center.</p><p>You can also report found stray dogs; ACC will dispatch a team to pick up that dog. When the ACC dispatch center is closed, you should either hold onto the dog or bring it to the nearest ACC Care Center or receiving center.</p><p>ACC does not pick up or respond to reports about healthy stray adult cats, but will respond to reports of abandoned kittens. Any found pet or stray dog or cat can be brought to an ACC Care Center or receiving center during business hours.</p><p>Reports of animals that seem to have been abandoned by their owner are also accepted. These pets may be tied up in public for a lengthy period of time, or left in homes unattended after owners move or go on vacation.</p><p>Always use caution around stray animals. To trap an animal that is not injured or rabid, hire a professional trapper by checking the Yellow Pages under Animal Removal or Exterminator. You can also find professional trappers on the internet.</p>
