To relieve dangerous recurring flooding on Bell Blvd, directly south of a large landscape fringe of the Cross Island Parkway, DEP is uncovering two existing buried outfalls, TI-928 & -929, to improve their drainage function. At minimum, coastal sediment needs to be removed from these two. It is also possible that corrugated pipe running under the parkway and parks has collapsed, in which case more invasive followup work will be required. Separate from, but related to this project, DEP's GI/bluebelt group was considering whether a new detention pond and tank at the CIP may also be an appropriate treatment for this condition.
